To Geary, Jul 16, 2014 11:05PM. I understand, but if you download the latest version of GarageBand in iTunes, you'll then be offered an older version if you try to download it from the App Store on your iPad. The App Store has a feature to let you download older versions of apps, but one of the prerequisites is that you already own the app. Back on the device (in my case iPod Touch 5th gen), go to the App Store, search for Garageband, and click on Get for Garageband if it isn’t already showing as yours. It will ask if you want to download a previous version or something like that. Click yes, and it works! Or at least it did for me. If you can find an older iOS version of Garageband that is compatible with iOS 9.3.5, then yes. However, Apple has made it very difficult to obtain older versions of iOS and macOS apps. And any download of an Apple app that is from other than Apple would be risky and likely pirated. You might want to consider getting a newer iPad.

iPad (1st generation), 32GB, iOS 5.1.1, Wi-Fi Only
I recently purchased a 1st Generation iPad with the max iOS 5.1 and I need GarageBand on it. I have GB on my iMac but it doesn't show up in the Apps selection of iTunes so I'm stuck on how to request an older version of GarageBand.

Since the iOS and Mac versions of GarageBand are different, you'll need to purchase it in the Store section of iTunes. You can just search the store for GarageBand if you're having trouble finding it.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply...however, I think I need to reiterate, I need an 'older version' of GarageBand as I only have iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad. I need GarageBand 1.4....which isn't offered on in the Apple/iTunes store. Any idea who might have an old working link to older GBs?
